The AriStar 200 watt Turbo RV solar charging kit is an intermediate solar power system complete with a powerful inverter to handle your 120 volt plug-in items.
Our 200 watt RV solar kit comes complete and ready to install. The only thing not included in the box is the labor to put it all together. Believe me, if we could find a way to squeeze it in there, we would.
Your kit comes with two AM100 watt solar panels, solar panel mounting feet and well nut kit to secure to the roof, 50 feet of sunlight and water resistant tray cable ( no conduit necessary ), Go Power 1750 watt modified sinewave inverter with inverter leads and in line safety fuse, and Solar Boost / Blue Sky Energy 2000E charge controller. Nice controller, digital display, and utilizes MPPT ( maximum power point tracking technology ).
What's that?? Well, a quick lesson charge controllers. Most 12 volt solar panels produce about 17 volt while charging and most 12 volt batteries only charge up to about 14.4 volts. What a standard charge controller does is take that extra volatge and turn it into heat, basically wasting it. What a MPPT controller does is take that extra voltage and turn it into more current. What that equates to is as much as 20% more power coming out of your solar panel VS. a standard charge controller. If you do a lot of camping or plan on expanding your system later on down the road, I feel the extra cost of the MPPT controller is well justified. If you're just a once in a while weekend camper, I would recommend you stay with out standard kits.
The AM100 watt solar panel measures 21.25" x 57.25" each and under most sunlight conditions, two of them will produce about 1100+ watts of power per day. That's enough to keep up with your lights, water pump, furnace blower, TV / DVD use, etc. Pretty much, anything in your coach that is 12 volt and with the inverter you can power items like a microwave, coffee pot or other smaller plug-in items.
This kit is usually in stock and ready to ship out anytime. We typically ship out UPS or FedEx Ground and a freight estimate is about $65-$85 depending on your location in the US. There is no sales tax charged on orders outside of California.
A good battery bank for this kit would be four 6 volt or four 12 volt batteries. We can always provide a diagram on how to hook up batteries in this confugration
The AM100 solar panel is custom made for our RV applications by BP Solar and is the perfect match to the MPPT turbo charger ( Solar Boost 2000E ) current boosting charge controller.
By incorporating 44 high efficiency polycrystalline cells, the AM100 operates at a much higher operating voltage than any standard 36 cell ( 12 volt ) solar module. The higher voltage provides the MPPT charge controller with what they need to achieve the maximum possible boost to the output charging amperage.
When combined with our MPPT turbocharger you will regularly see a 35%-65% boost over the AM100's normal operating amperage of 4.54 amps. That equates to an output amperage of 6.12 amps - 7.49 amps out of a panel measuring only 21.25" x 57.25" and weighing only 21 pounds.
