If you have any questions, need any suggestions on what kind or how large of a system or are in need of any other information. Of course, just let me know.... azsolar@azsolar.com
How big of a system do I need?
Well, that all depends on how much power you're going to be using day to day.
- Do you plan on living on board your RV or is it just a weekender?
- What do you want to run in your RV? Just lights and the water pump or TV, VCR, microwave and other ammenities?
- Where do you live in the country? The local weather and daily sunshine do make a difference.
Remember, the more information you can provide us with, the better we can understand your needs and make the proper recommendations. No point in you guessing which system might be right for you, just let us know the basics and let us do the figuring for you. Please e-mail system information requests to azsolarsales@gmail.com...
Thanks!
How long will my solar system last? Solar panels are typically warranted for 25 years and should give you at least that much good service. Batteries are regular maintenance items and will have to be replaced on occassion. A good set of batteries can last 4-5 years if properly maintained. Inverters and charge controllers also, like most electronics, do fail on occassion. However, most last a good long time and will give you years of reliable service.
What do I do if there is no sunshine? If your inverter has a built in charger, you can run a generator to charge up your batteries in bad weather. If you have a DC only system and no generator, unfortunately, you may be out of power for a while.
Can I start with a small system and add more solar later? Absolutely. More solar panels and batteries can always be added to an existing system for extra battery charging.
Who will install my system? 90% of our customers install their own systems. All of our systems come with installation instructions, diagrams, and you can get ahold of me on the phone just about anytime. 888 878-6786, with any technical questions. We understand that not everyone can install their own system and there are many installation centers all across the country that would be happy to help out.
Can I solar power my RV without mounting the solar panels to the roof?
YES! We get this questions all the time and it is absolutely possible. I have done it on my own trailer as well as for many customers over the years. The solar panels are kept mobil on free standing tilt mounts and simply plugged into the solar charge controlling system when needed and unplugged and stowed away in the RV for traveling. This allows you to move the solar panels around to keep them in the most direct sunlight, the ability to stow them away for long term, and prevents any roof penetrations in the coach. |
