Generators can be a useful tool in some circumstances.  However, in the event of an real emergency or disaster like the New Orleans or Florida flooding and other natural disasters there WILL be a disruption in the availability of gasoline.  When there is no gasoline, all the money you spent on that fancy generator means absolutely nothing!  No gas...no power.

     With a small solar electric system you'll find that it's no problem to have your lights on, a box fan running to help keep you cool, be able to microwave some food or water and keep your radios or TV operating to stay in communication with others and be made aware of any new developments.  No gasoline necessary.  Just a bit of sunshine.

     The initial cost of a solar electric system may be a bit higher but in the long run will end up costing you less and providing more realiable power when you really need it!
